Marco Testoni

Updated on December, 2011

Marco Testoni is an extraordinary percussionist, keyboard player and composer, whose latest album Impatiens featured the collaboration of Billy Cobham, the father of modern drumming. With the striking and suggestive sound of his set of Caisa drums (new generation metallophones belonging to the same family of the more famous Caribbean steel drums) Marco Testoni has once again brought out the capacity of percussion to fully express the “lyricism of rhythm”, which represents the artistic essence and the manifesto of his style of music.

Pollock Project

Updated on November, 2011

London Bridge

A CD and a musical project born from the encounter between Marco Testoni and Nicola Alesini. The evocative and visionary aspects of their own personal approaches to music brought them together in an unprecedented artistic collaboration, and this has now been enriched by the magic of wind instruments and the physicality of percussion, combined in a captivating and enthralling way. These two musicians are artistically non-aligned, but they are united by the same need for complete artistic autonomy, free from any classifications and genres, which has led them to collaborate with artists travelling, like them upon unusual musical paths (such as David Sylvian, Billy Cobham and Roger Eno). Always navigating without fear or formalism, in the atmospheres of world music and jazz improvisation with hints of ambient, minimalism and art-rock to create a marvellous magically evocative mix. Marco Testoni and Nicola Alesini with the Pollock Project have now enhanced their musical palette with some intense new Surrealist colours. Completing the trio is Max Di Loreto a very versatile musician who adds an infinite range of timbres and tones to the performances of the trio with his extensive set of percussions.
